The Alliance Partners

The City-Business Climate Alliance is a joint initiative of C40 Cities, CDP and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). The Alliance partners provide a unique understanding of cities, businesses and use data as an empirical backbone. They represent a large network of leading Mayors and CEOs. By combining their expertise and networks, the Alliance partners are able to create crucial synergies needed to accelerate action.

C40 CITIES

C40 Cities connects 97 of the world’s largest and most influential cities, representing 700+ million citizens and one quarter of the global economy. Member cities use a science-based approach and exchange of best practices to take the urgent and effective action needed to confront the climate crisis and keep global heating below 1.5°C, aiming to collectively halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. C40 mayors are committed to increasing resilience, cleaning the air we breathe and taking inclusive climate action to create a healthier and more sustainable future.

CDP

CDP is a global non-profit that drives companies, cities, and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. Over 830 cities reported their climate and environmental data in 2019 – a number that has doubled since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015. Beyond this, over 120 states and regions disclosed their climate and environmental data in 2019, compared to 66 in 2015.  This is on top of the 8,400 companies with over 50% of global market capitalization disclosed environmental data, making CDP’s platform one of the richest sources of information globally on how companies and governments are driving environmental change. CDP, formerly Carbon Disclosure Project, is a founding member of the We Mean Business Coalition.
